A Neurodiversity Movement:
About The Positivity Movement

The Positivity Movement is a Neurodiversity Movement founded by Felicity Henry a late diagnosed Neurodivergent Woman and now Mother. Built from lived experience, it exists to support neurodivergent individuals, parents, and/or carers through Neurodivergent/ADHD Mentoring, Lived Experience Education & Creating a Community both on and offline.

Our focus is on helping all Neurodivergent Individuals and Families feel accepted, understood, supported and empowered while building a more inclusive and compassionate world.

The Story Behind The Positivity Movement

My name is Felicity and I created The Positivity Movement because I know what it feels like to grow up feeling “different” and misunderstood. I have masked, struggled with mental health, and always felt like there was more to what I was feeling than the feeling alone. I genuinely remember thoughts I would have as a young child wondering why I felt different, I had big feelings was super empathetic and felt like others didn’t really see me.. for me!

Before I received my diagnosis as an adult I did a lot of personal work understanding myself better but the diagnosis at 32 really validated my journey, experience and feelings I had throughout my life. I realised that I didn’t need to hide parts of myself, but rather embrace the unique parts of me that make me, me! To be completely honest with you it was a beautiful realisation and also has given me so much understanding of my own needs and strengths. On top of that it has allowed me to become a Neuro-affirming Mother to my two beautiful boys after having my own lived experience and understanding what it felt like growing up feeling the way I did.

The Positivity Movement was built from what I wish I'd had throughout my life. A Neurodiversity Movement that is Neuroaffirming, focusing on your strengths rather than trying to change who you are. A Community where neurodivergent individuals and their loved ones feel genuinely seen and supported created from lived experience.

Whether you’re newly diagnosed, supporting someone you love, or simply curious to learn more- you are welcome here. This is a safe space for all of us to be who we truly are.

Felicity Henry's Personal Story

a promotion picture of felicity during her time on Australian Survivor

Some people may recognise me from Australian Survivor. But before the island, I had already spent most of my life learning how to survive.

Survivor was one of the most confronting and transformative experiences I’ve ever had.

It stripped everything back and truly pushed me to my emotional and physical limits forcing me to face fears and insecurities I’d carried for my whole life. It strengthened my resilience and showed me the importance of emotional connection and self-belief and not just pretending to be confident because that was the mask I felt had to wear.

But my journey started long before Survivor…

As a young girl, I struggled with anxiety, deep insecurity, and a long-held belief that I wasn’t enough. I developed an eating disorder at a young age, and used sport and movement to cope with my mental health alongside it, something I’m grateful my parents supported for me and my siblings through sporting opportunities. Later, I turned to alcohol and substances to numb feelings I didn’t understand or know how to process. I was also carrying significant trauma I kept to myself, and continued to rely on substances that numbed me, which only made my own recovery and understanding harder.

At 19, I lost my grandmother Joy  who was my safe person, this led to a period of extremely deep depression that I went through quietly, without the tools to support my mental health or regulate what I was feeling. I spent years developing unhealthy coping mechanisms just to get by… And no one even knew just how badly I was struggling. I eventually saw a GP and for a few years used medication to support me. It helped… but it did not help me fully understand where my Mental Health struggles were coming from and why I was avoiding/numbing them.

The Diagnosis That Changed Everything

In my late 20s I was on a road of self-discovery and experienced a lot of healing and understanding for myself. I created healthier coping tools and didn’t keep falling back to unhealthy habits like I always once did.

I ended up studying Mental Health and started to work supporting others alongside them after overcoming my own Mental Health Struggles. I was able to hold space and empathy for each participant I supported.

In my early 30s, I began studying Counselling. This really helped deepen my knowledge further and then after becoming a Mother to my second child, I was finally diagnosed with ADHD and that was truly a moment that completely shifted how I understood my past.

It helped me realise that all of the anxiety, overwhelm, emotional intensity, and difficulty focusing were due to an unsupported little girl who didn’t have the tools to understand herself, and of course the lack of understanding around Neurodivergence as a whole.

Like many women, I slipped through the cracks, as ADHD can often present differently and be masked by perfectionism or people-pleasing. Without early support, I spent years believing there was something wrong with me.

"My diagnosis honestly lit a fire in me. It wasn’t a label meant to box me in, in fact it was the answer to why life had felt like such a constant uphill battle... It gave a voice to years of hidden struggles and completely ignited my purpose: to ensure others never have to feel as alone or misunderstood as I did."

I began to see just how important early support & intervention, awareness, and understanding truly are not just for children, but for adults too.

I have now learnt to understand that a lot of Neurodivergent individuals will struggle with their Mental Health especially if they don’t have appropriate support around them. Mental health challenges don’t disappear just because we appear “fine.” What matters is having the right tools, support, and community, without shame and learning to love ourselves as we are- not what or who others expect or want us to be.

Motherhood & The Movement

As a Mum to two boys, my passion has now only grown even BIGGER. Navigating the realities of burnout as a Neurodivergent woman showed me how vital real, compassionate support is. It made me fiercely passionate about also supporting families to understand their unique qualities, proving they never need to hide or change who they are to fit in. I have advocated for my children and ensured they have the right support around them. It has not been an easy journey as a Mother but I am grateful for it.

I now have a deep understanding from the lens of a child as an undiagnosed little girl myself and now as a Mother to my children.

My lived experience is what brought The Positivity Movement to life, a space built entirely on lived experience education connection and making sure you, and the people you love, feel seen and safe to be exactly who you are.

My approach to support

Lived experience

I don’t just understand the theory – I live it. I know what it feels like, the weight of the mental load, and how hard it can be to implement ‘simple’ advice.

Zero Toxic Positivity

We don’t just ‘good vibes only’ our way through hard things here. We acknowledge the struggle, validate it, and gently look for practical ways forward.

Empowerment Focused

My goal is to help you build self-trust. You are the expert on your own life and brain. I’m here to provide tools, reflection, and a deeply safe space to process.

Neuro-Affirming

I meet you exactly where you are. We work with your brain’s natural rhythms instead of trying to force compliance to neurotypical standards.

Qualifications & Certifications
